Initially trained in environmental engineering, I made the switch to teaching after spending two years as a volunteer teacher abroad. From there, I went on to earn my Masters in Teaching at Seattle University and to teach at public and private schools for the last 10+ years. I've tutored elementary students for whom English is a second language in math, tutored calculus, taught geometry and algebra, high school physics, and introduced a new curriculum to my high school for the honors chemistry class, which I also taught.
I'm a big fan of learning by inquiry (especially for science and geometr

I have a strong interest in helping students reach their full potential by helping them see complex and sophisticated topics in simple and familiar ways. In 6 years of tutoring i learned that the most important factors in this process are listening to students so i can meet them at their level, and encouraging their participation as frequently as possible.
I'm a skilled student myself and know the tips and tricks to do well on exams for math and science. Having taken these courses recently and excelled I have the knowledge and passion to help students love and succeed in math and computer science courses. I will help bring out the joy in learning these subjects to give my students the best opportunity to succeed.
Most tutors lack the personal experience of struggling with math in school, and therefore fail to learn how to teach someone who needs a different approach. I am a Garfield High School graduate, currently studying as an applied mathematics student at UVIC, but math didn't always come easily to me. I know how hard math can be to understand. That is why I want to help students like you become confident in their classes by taking an alternative approach to learning. In my lessons I use visuals, practical applications of concepts, step-by-step guided work, and practice work to find how you learn best.

I have been tutoring students of all ages and abilities in Math, Reading, and Writing since I was in middle school. It was during this time that I learned I had a true knack and absolute love for tutoring. There is nothing more fulfilling to me as an educator than seeing my students not only succeed, but being confident in their ability to achieve their goals.
I believe that communiction between student and teacher is vital to success. By effectively communicating not only how to do something, but why, what it actually means, and how it applies to the world, students are better able to grasp difficult topics and see how they fit into th

I am a credentialled math teacher with over 7 years of experience in teaching and tutoring math. I believe that ALL students are capable of learning math at a high level. I am patient and empathetic and am happy to use multiple approaches to help you or your child understand the math concept at a deep level. I have a strong understanding of mathematical concepts through caluculus, as demonstrated by a perfect score on the Praxis Mathematics Exam (5161), but I also have a pasion for understanding how the brain learns and encorporate brain science backed strategies and study suggestions into my teaching and tutoring.

Hello!
My name is Alan, I'm a college graduate that works as a full time Senior Accountant during the day.
Learning and teaching has always been a passion of mine. I graduated with a full high school diploma at the age of 15, and went straight into college as a full time student. I graduated with a degree in Finance. I have run student-led teaching courses under the Montana State school board. I have tutored for many years now and would love to work with you or your son/daughter.
If you want to get them the best edge they can get, or if you, yourself want to learn in the most efficient way possible. You came to the right place.

I provide one on one tutoring which is very helpful for students as they can ask as many quastions as they want and not feel that they are holding up the pace for other students. It also help me as a tutor to pinpont what area of the subject needs most work. A student will learn quicker if the whole focus of the tutor is on one student rather than numerous students who might have a differnt kind of problem.
I am a Masters In Teaching Graduate from the University of Washington Seattle for high school math and have over 8 years of tutoring (4 years for SAT/ACT/AP and 8 years for general curriculum). I enjoy teaching math to my students, but I mainly like to focus on helping my students develop independent study skills that will support them through life. What this means is building up the analytical skills that they will need to prepare and study for assignments and tests when they're going to go to college. There's only so much one can do in teaching the content that we also need to teach our students how they can become their own teachers and su

I taught myself calculus in 8th grade and was an outstanding math student through the first year of college, at which point I started to concentrate more on computer science.
I recently retired from a career in software development.
As a full time student myself I am able to provide support to students from the perspective of a peer instead of an intimidating adult. The effectiveness of peer education has been proved in multiple studies as well as in my success rate in past students! Students are more perceptive of help from those in a more relatable stage of life.
For my younger students (K-12) I offer a FREE online classroom to keep busy while school is out for the year. This helps students stay on task at home and helps relieve parents from having to form a curriculum. I post assignments every day that cover all common core topics, making them work throughout the day as they would in school!
For my older students, I offer FREE help on days when we do not have a session scheduled. For example, if a student has a question on a certain problem in their homework, they are welcome to text or email me a picture of the problem and I do my best to help them through instructional videos. Basically, students d
