I have been teaching English classes at the high school level since 2016. I believe that while "grade-level" benchmarks are effective when speaking in broad terms, the important thing is growth. I meet every student where they are and seek to help build skills from there.
I earned my bachelors in English from OSU in 2011, and my masters in Education from Portland State University in 2016.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
First we work to identify skills the student wants to improve. for example, the question isn't just, "is my essay okay?" The question needs to be, "Does my introduction make my main idea clear?" or "Does my organization make sense?" Once we understand the specific goal, we can then identify ways for the student to learn how to answer that question for themselves.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have taught in the public school system for three years.
I earned my Masters of Education from Portland State University in 2016 with a 4.0 GPA, and graduated Summa cum Laude from Oregon State University with my degree in English in 2011.
