Originally earning a Masters in Education at the University of Santa Barbara, CA in 2010, I am currently a full time literacy instructor based in Portland OR. My passion lies in an individualized approach to educating others, implementing various learning approaches and instilling new skills based on each child's unique needs. I am a graduate of Bard College, known for its creative writing and peer tutoring programs. I have several years of experience with elementary and middle school aged kids. I am a tutor who really enjoys helping kids feel excited about the things they’re learning. I like getting to know my students in order to figure out what motivates them as an individual. I am patient and have a good sense of humor to make kids feel like the work we’re doing can be fun. I tailor our lessons to meet individual needs, and have a breadth of subject experience including essay writing, creative writing, mathematics, and history.

As a graduate student and mentor currently enrolled at Portland State University, I spend lots of my time supporting others. I have two years of experience as a special education teacher, as well as a bachelors degree in English and Special Education. I grew up in a family of educators and helping my mom as a kindergarten teacher for the past 20 years and my older sister as an English teacher. I am very passionate and am able to provide student’s clear access to their individual growth.

I'm a college student at the University of Hawaii. I have 5 years of experience working with students in various learning environments. Being a student myself I understand how challenging classes can be and I want to provide accessible assistance to anyone looking. Most of the experience I have is with general elementary education, French language, and essay writing. As a certified elementary school teacher with a reading specialist endorsement, I have the educational background and experience to guide students towards success. I have homeschool taught three students and have tutored a dozen students in reading, writing, and math for the past two years. Prior to that I taught first and second grade for three years and earned my graduate degree in Curriculum and Instruction from George Fox University.
