I am a writer and artist who is incredibly passionate about helping others learn and grow. I obtained my BFA from PNCA Willamette in 2025 and majored in Animated Arts. Comics and Anime have played a big role in my life, and spending time approaching these subjects from a scholastic sense has been very fulfilling. I primarily tutor writing (essays, creative writing), but can also help with long term-project planning, as well as some science and math topics. I believe academics don't have to always feel impersonal or cumbersome, and want to help students connect to their creative potential. Whether this is through a long term creative proje

I’m Sunni Svangren, M.Ed., a high school English teacher and tutor based in Gladstone, Oregon. I work with students who want to grow as readers, writers, and thinkers, whether they need help catching up, strengthening academic skills, preparing for essays, or building more confidence with English Language Arts. My tutoring style is supportive, thoughtful, and student-centered. I believe strong reading and writing skills come from more than memorizing rules or formulas. They grow when students feel safe enough to ask questions, take risks, and discover that their ideas matter. I help students break down challenging texts, organize their thoug

Mary Jo is exactly what my child needs. She is able to meet him just where he is (which changes day to day), motivates him to learn and grow, provides him with so many different ways of learning and different activities to keep him engaged. Her energy is amazing and she is obviously doing this because she cares about children and is excited herself to see them learn and improve. We are so lucky to have her helping our son.

My situation was unique. I had serious epileptic seizures during high school resulting in multiple brain surgeries and a long, challenging recovery. Matt entered my life during this time; I still had assignments to complete before graduation and an impending SAT exam, so I met with Matt twice a week and learned the essential concepts of writing and reading comprehension. While math was my strong suit, Matt helped me identify some earlier math concepts that needed refreshing. My initial SAT score prior to my relationship with Matt was 1260, but, after tutoring, I received a 1510 and was accepted by my school of choice for pre-med studies. I continue to meet with Matt two or three times per week during my undergraduate studies for more advanced writing strategies. I cannot imagine a better academic mentor than I have found with Matt.
