About
I am currently a student at UNM. I am a triple major: 1) LAIS/BIS with a minor in Psychology 2) FineArts/Dance with a concentration in Flamenco 3) Anthropology/Ethnology with minor in Linguistics.
I created the business, Academic Tutoring ABQ, as part of two separate courses offered at UNM in LAIS, Innovation Academy, and an Independent Study Project.
I have been at UNM for three semesters. I have been on the Dean's List for three semesters. In Fall 2020, I will be designing a web site for the business as part of another course offered at UNM through LAIS.
I am a tutor at UNM. I tutor students to prepare for the Accuplacer Test at UNM in Mathematics.
I am a professional member of the National Tutoring Association.
I have been tutoring for three semesters.
For the student I am tutoring: I can establish a sound system for keeping on top of the student's homework. I am able and willing to partner with the student and the student's teachers to provide quality tutoring. If the student in question is falling behind, we can bring that student back to a healthy scholastic balance by reviewing the basics, concentrating on organizational skills, and an appropriate style of learning. We can communicate with the student's teacher so that we are aware of the teacher's lesson plans. The goal would be to have the student be one-step ahead so that the student is introduced to new concepts at home even before the teacher presents them. Working with the student's teacher in this way will allow the student to achieve a solid sense of self-confidence in Math/Reading/English at the appropriate level. I enjoy tutoring. I am patient, kind, understanding, and sincere. I particularly find it satisfying when the person being tutored shows the gleam of success and confident understanding in their eyes upon completing a newly learned task. I enjoy watching an individual grow and transform in positive directions through my tutoring efforts.
I enjoy watching people grow and transform as they acquire new skills.
