Every student has their own unique set of learning styles, and I believe in teaching in a way that adapts to their way of learning. I value patience, and gently guiding students step-by-step. I look forward to working with you!

As a someone who was once a student with her own set of learning disabilities, like ADHD, I have always valued the importance of individualized 1:1 student support. Just like DNA, every student has their own unique set of needs. After receiving my Master’s degree in Urban & Regional Planning, and spending 5+ years educating children and adults, I knew that teaching was my true calling.

Seeing that ‘A-ha!’ moment in my students is not only rewarding, but also important to know that I am helping my students reach their academic and professional goals. I love helping students succeed!

Frequently asked questions

One of the first things that I do with new students is getting to know them, by either setting up a virtual introductory meeting. This is where I get to learn more about the unique academic/professional aspirations of my students. It is in this moment that I may learn more about the area(s) they need tutoring in.

Every student has their own unique sets of learning aspirations and intelligence and learning skills. Because of that, I always like to begin building rapport, by getting to know my students, and asking them about how they like learning (do they prefer more hands-on, or more audio/visual-centered-learning). I find that teaching students in a way that caters to their learning styles helps them better absorb information.

Prior to launching the first tutoring session with my students, I will often develop a tutoring plan which will highlight the short- and long-term academic goals of my students. I also create a customized lesson plan and curriculum for each tutoring session, and adjust it, according to the learning progress of my students.

I have a B.A. in Sociology and a Master’s in Urban and Regional Planning (MURP), and a certificate in Community Real Estate Development from the University of South Florida. I have over 10 cumulative years of experience working within the Local Government, City Planning and NGO arenas.

As a 120 Hour certified ESOL instructor, I have been teaching the English language to students of various ages, backgrounds, and proficiency levels. My specialty is teaching and working with intermediate-advanced level English speakers. I am also certified as an IELTS preparation specialist. I have helped international students develop skillsets that expand their English vocabulary, improve listening, reading comprehension, and oral language capabilities.

Here are my rates per tutoring session:

- $12.50 for a 15-minute session

-$25.00 for 30-minute sessions

-$37.50 for 45-minute sessions, and

-$50.00 for 60-minute sessions

Back in 2011, While I was doing program coordination for a community arts-based nonprofit organization, I also served as a substitute for visual arts classes. The students that our program served ranged between the ages of 7-17. It was from that moment that I fell in love with teaching.

Since my nonprofit community arts tenure, I have continued to teach in various capacities. As an Urban Planner, I have conducted various outreach workshops and seminars where I regularly teach community members about Urban and Regional Planning, as well as Public Policy. I have even created a special course that teaches youth about City Planning.

When I am not teaching about City Planning, I teach English as a Second Language to international students.

I have worked with students of all ages. For example, I have experience teaching ESL and arts to children as young as four years old, to professional adults seeking to enrich their careers.

When teaching City Planning, I work with both children (8-12 years) and college students (undergrad and graduate). Many of my college students are studying Urban & Regional Planning, or related fields.

Be specific about your learning needs. The more information you can provide me with, the more focused my tutoring with you will be. Let me know all of the areas that you are struggling in, or any particular goal that you have, so that I can create the most relevant tutoring plan for you.

Please feel free to ask me questions about my specialties, qualifications, and experience! This helps you determine whether I will be a suitable match for you.

1.       What exactly is it that I need help with?

2.       Do I have a realistic timeline for reaching my learning goals?

3.       Am I open to feedback from my tutor?

4.       Am I open to learning about new study methodologies that can help me retain new information?

5.       Did I do everything I can to find answers to the questions on my own?
