Student-oriented focus - I meet the student where they are and we work with the student and their current level of understanding. Outstanding explanation of concepts and skills - There are about 4 or 5 ways that you could solve every single math problem. I am usually good to give them the different ways until we find one that "sticks" witht he student. In the online environment, I use "their problems" when working with a student and I am marking up their work virtually. No more searching for problems on the internet that "kinda seem like my problem" or wasting time teaching yourself concepts. I'm passionate about helping students with...

I have learned, from personal experience, that language acquisition can be challenging, especially for older teens and adults. If you identify and tell me what you are passionate about, together we can clear a path to improved English language skills. Like any good coach, it brings me joy to be a part a student's skills growth. Yes, learning is fun. For example: My background in Economics (a social science) and Information Sciences, coupled with my hands-on professional experience, enabled me to develop interdisciplinary coursework and give American English and Culture classes utilizing the learner's desire for computer literacy. I’ve been teaching for 27 years. Most of my years were in middle school science and then a language arts type of class. I teach research skills and writing skills. I spend a lot of time teaching language arts skills using critical thinking and writing. I have quite a few resources on the middle school level but can change my material to fit a range of first grade toadults. I really like teaching my subject matter and teaching critical teaching skills. I really enjoy teaching kids to think and to find their own material. I like giving a topic and having the students find the answers to the questions and presenting the material in a variety...

As a parent who was watching their child struggle for the first time in his educational career, I was nervous about having him work with a tutor. I wasn’t sure what to expect but I wanted to make sure he was comfortable, felt open enough to ask questions and explain where he needed help, and fully understand the concepts that he was learning in an accelerated math program. Roma was recommended to us and met with him the day we reached out. She is so professional, she fully understands every concept, her communication skills are exceptional, she utilizes the most up-to-date platforms that my son was familiar with, and not only can you tell she loves teaching math, but my child now loves learning math. Roma offered both in person meetings and then transitioned to online meeting, which have worked out great as my child is able to meet with her with even more flexibility. Roma has made herself available to review concepts outside of his normal tutoring schedule when he has questions. You can tell she truly cares about the students and their success. I cannot say enough about how pleased I am with how far my child has come in a few short months. Roma has been a true blessing in my child’s life and given him the skills and confidence he will take with him for years to come. She has my highest recommendation!
