About

Make the math relatable and relevant. Talk to the students in such a way that builds the love of learning by being successful where they previously struggled and became frustrated.

I get excited when the student has there "ah hah" moment and they realize that it is easier than they thought. Their confidence grows and then their courage to venture where they previously ran from the unknown.

Ask the student to trust me because there's no pressure or judgement; I am on their side and there to support them.

talk/teach the topic with them in mind and relatable to what their interests are. Asking questions, checking for understanding along the way. Model the topic and then let them practice and ask them why they did what did to help shape their independent thinking. Encourage communication from them to me: ask questions, express their thoughts, and speak when they don't understand.
