My favorite part of teaching is getting to see students master content and become confident in themselves and their newfound skills. The more challenging the topic, the more rewarding it is to see them cross that finish line each time!

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Communication is key!
Typically students should come prepared with some information on
1) What topic they would like to study
2) What textbook/resources they would like to use
3) What time they would like to have class
4) Any relevant timeframes for their goals (e.g. final test is in three weeks)
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I graduated summa cum laude with a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from Wright State University in 2014. I have more than 9 years of experience living and teaching abroad in SE Asia. Most of my students are international students working towards their International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma.

How did you get started teaching?
I always loved math and never felt like I had enough time in college to study it as thoroughly as I would have liked. While studying abroad in a two-year Mandarin language course, I was contacted by local families looking for a STEM tutor. After graduating from the language program, I enjoyed it so much that I decided to pursue teaching full-time.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have taught math to students as early as 3rd grade and all the way up to college and beyond. In the last two years I have focused primarily on Middle School to College-level math.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Don't be afraid to talk with a few tutors before making your final decision. Having a tutor that you connect with is just as important as the tutor's skill level.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Student should make sure their budget, goals, and timeframe are realistic before reaching out to potential tutors.
