About this tutor

I have been tutoring small children and highschool students successfully for years. I enjoy teaching and love seeing growth in my students. I've taught courses on Algebra I & II, Geometry, Trigonometry, Pre-Calculus, and hope to have the chance to teach Calculus.

Whether you're struggling with a subject or just need someone to sit down and work with you I'd love to help.

I love teaching for the accomplishment I feel in the student when they understand something they couldn't before.

He was very clear with his explaining and I understood what he was saying. Made my math a much easier experience.

Cooper helped me in my secondary math 3 class. I bumped my grade up from a C to a A- and actually started doing well on tests

FAQs

What is your typical process for working with a new student?

When I first engage with a new student I like to see what they're struggling with and what they'd like to work on. I try to get to know them and build up their confidence, letting them know that we can work through any problem and that its common to not understand at first. I try to set some achievable long and short term goals for us to work towards once I understand where they're at.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I've been doing volunteer work for years tutoring students grades K-12 and have enjoyed the experience. I've had experience tutoring in each of the following subjects:

Math (All Levels)

Chemistry

Physics

Language Arts

Biology

Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.

I generally charge 15-20$ per hour, depending on the material covered.

How did you get started teaching?

In highschool my teachers started asking me to stay after class to help the students that either wanted to get ahead or were falling behind. I immediatly fell in love with teaching and began donating my time to other volunteer organisations.

What types of students have you worked with?

I've worked with a variety of students over the years, from grades K-12. I've helped kids that come to me wanting to get ahead in their classes or want to impress their friends and parents with an impressive report card. The students I most often work with are those that are having a little trouble with the material in school and just need a bit of extra help.

What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?

I think it's always best to have a teacher or tutor that you are able to have fun or relax with. Having a respectful but casual relationship with your teacher overall helps student-teacher communication, which is a critical factor in overall success.

What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?

What are my needs?

What would I like to focus on?

How much time do I have?

What do I already understand?

What mindset will benefit me the most?
