What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I like to begin by getting to know the student and their strengths. Then, I like to collaborate with the student and create a game plan for success. I use their preferred learning style to tailor my teaching to make each session impactful.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I received my bachelors degree in elementary education from TCU. I obtained my masters degree in curriculum and instruction from Texas A&M Commerce. I have my Texas teacher certification generalist in grades 1-8, biology in grades 1-8, and ESL. I have completed the science of reading course. I have been in education for 21 years.

My standard rate is $25 per hour.
How did you get started teaching?
I grew up always wanting to be a teacher. I babysat and tutored through high school. After high school, I went to TCU and completed my elementary education degree in 4 years. I have been in education for 21 years.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with all types of students. I have taught all ages of students from 1st grade through 6th grade. I have been a teacher in a self contained class and content specific classes. I was a reading specialist and this year, a dyslexia specialist.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I had a student gain over 3 reading levels through hard work!
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
I would look for a teacher that you feel comfortable working with. A teacher that listens to you, and relays the information in a way that the student is successful.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
I would look for a teacher that is knowledgable in the subject area. The student should feel comfortable asking the teacher questions, and be able to work collaboratively to obtain success.
