About
I am a former attorney, social worker and teacher. I have taught elementary and middle school students. I also have training and experience in teaching English to speakers of other languages. My passions are reading and writing. I have written one novel and I’m working on my second, though I’m not published yet. I will work with any age student because learning is a lifetime process. I can work with you online or in person if you can meet somewhere in Kitsap County, as I live on the west side of the Puget Sound. I look forward to meeting you!

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I will spend the first session getting to know the student and, if desired, their parent. I want to know what their goals are, their preferred learning style, their likes and dislikes. I will obtain as much information as possible from parents and teachers about what the student's greatest needs are. Then we will design a plan to target those specific needs. If students have their own curriculum, we can use that. If not I can recommend some resources that can be downloaded for free or purchased.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a bachelor's degree in Psychology, a Master's of Education and a J.D (law) degree. I have training and experience in those fields as well as social work (specifically, working with children who were adopted and may be having adjustment issues.)
