Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
We start of the process by doing an assessment. The assessment is more abilities dependent that grade dependent. We want to get a clear picture and to what the student knows, and has yet to lean about math. From there we create a custom learning plan based on the students personal needs.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
All Mathnasium instructors come form a pure math or math related background(engineering, finance, economics). All instructors must pass a math assessment showing skill through High School, that they can teach multi sensory and can make math FUN! From there they go through a proprietary training to rock out math even further!
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.

What types of students have you worked with?
We work with studnets fomr K-12th grade.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
We want to make math relatable to our students. We recently had a student who could not understand her word problem. The problem asked if you have 9 things but want 15 things how many more things do you need? The student was struggling. I then posed the question if you have 9 shopkins and you want 15 shopkins, how many do I need to give you. With out missing a beat the student said, Oh, that's 6 Shopkins!
BAM!
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
A good math tutor needs to understand how to teach a child who is seeing and learning the material for the first time. SO often the teaching comes fomr a place of an educated adult who already understand how the topic or concept works and has forgotten what it is like to be a child who is seeing this all for the very first time.
