About

I am extremely familiar with the different ways that math is taught. As a rising high school senior and an experienced tutor, I have learned the misconceptions and difficulties surrounding multiple techniques and I have also learned how to correct them.

I offer individualized support to all of my students. Every student has their own strengths and weaknesses so no tutoring session is going to be exactly the same. I'll ensure that your student is getting what they need. I have tutored a multitude of students and age ranges.

I am passionate, motivated, and down-to-earth. I enjoy getting to know my students before delving into a session. Tutoring can be scary, and I want to help ease any anxieties that can arise during the process.

There are many things that I enjoy about being a tutor. I love math myself and spreading that love of math to others while maintaining an optimistic attitude/empowering my students is one of my favorite things.

Seeing a student really struggle with a certain concept or unit and then with my assistance achieve the "lightbulb" moment is gratifying for both of us. I love creating a bond with my students and looking forward to speaking with them and teaching them new techniques that they may have not known about before.

I had an great time working with Mykenzie. I could really tell how much she wanted me to succeed. It felt like a collaborative effort rather than me struggling to do everything on my own.
During our sessions, she was engaged, prepared, and professional. I felt really comfortable with her and it was easy for me to relate to her on a personal level. She never made me feel stupid if I didnt understand something.
The notes and calculator tips she gave me were really helpful! I did a lot better on tests too.

Frequently asked questions

It is important to me that we sit down together (either individual or with a guardion) and discuss goals. Does the student need test-taking tips? Do they need more individualized support with the material? Are they having trouble with certain concepts?

In doing so, I can tailor my work to the student and plan out the best type of support as needed. This can include personalized lesson plans, notes, practice worksheets, etc.

Though I am still in high school, I am extremely qualified in many areas pertaining to tutoring. I have taken advanced math classes including a college pre-calculus class and will be taking AP Calculus this fall. In addition to mathematics, I am very well qualified in science including biology, scoring a 5 on the AP Biology exam this year.

I have received guidance from multiple math teachers/instructors regarding tutoring and done extensive research on the subject. In my time as a tutor, I have collaboratively worked with my students to earn at least a 25-30% increase in grades and test scores.

Because I am a high school student, I usually charge around $15-20 for a one-hour session, though I usually go overtime.

During the time of COVID-19, I have been very conscious about the changes and financial uncertainties that are affecting families during this time. Therefore, if you and your family are unable to pay that price, I am willing to discuss it and work something out that suits your needs.

I have been tutoring for essentially my whole life, though I have been tutoring as a job for almost a year now. I've always been passionate about teaching and helping others experience their own "lightbulb" moment.

It's important to me that I have a job that I a) enjoy and b) in one way or another, benefits someone. Tutoring, in that sense, is the perfect option for me. I have big aspirations and goals for my future so this is a great way for me to get started saving money and having fun at the same time.

I have worked with all types of students during my time as a tutor, spanning the ages from eighth grade to a freshman in college. Each of them has had their own learning style, strengths, and weaknesses. In addition to that, I have worked with a variety of ages and tutored a multitude of courses including Algebra One, Algebra Two/Trig, English, US History, and Biology.

My students are very important to me. I enjoy being a tutor but I also enjoy being a place for students to come to and feel relief from everyday stresses. I try to make every session fun and entertaining for the both of us.

During the pandemic, it has been hard to find events that I particularly enjoyed, but I have definitely grown a lot closer with my grandma during this time and developed a tigher bond. This time of uncertainity has made me realize that life is definitely fragile so I've been trying to reconnect with old friends and family members, which has made me extremely happy.

I think it's important that you perhaps reach out to multiple tutors, consult with each of them, and make a decision on factors including:

1. Will I feel comfortable with them?

2. Do I believe they can truly help me?

3. Are they flexibile? Do they meet my hours?

Before you make a decision, talk through your goals, concerns, etc. It's a scary process but feeling comfortable with a tutor can really enhance the experience.

There are many answers to this question, but I believe the most important questions could be:

1. What do I mostly want to target with my tutor? (This could be test scores, a certain unit, or general improvement)

2. What are my strengths right now? Where could I improve?

3. Am I looking for virtual tutoring or in-person?
