I've been tutoring professionally for ten years now! What makes me great at what I do is the fact that I'm interested in everything. I love learning and exploring new things on my own. In my free time, I'm a writer, musician, podcaster, an avid reader, and I love martial arts too. This makes it easy and natural for me to connect with students as I'm genuinely interested in what they love, and I want to know more about that as much as I want to teach them about math and science. This makes my lessons fun, enjoyable, and of course, instructive! My service is also a life lesson in goal setting, planning, working towards something, and achieving ... View Profile

I love that I can help students in an online format. I think the impact online tutoring has on students is tremendous. As in all teaching, the best moments are when the student says," Ooooohhhh!" when the clouds of confusion clear away and the light breaks through. I just like the feeling of knowing that somewhere out there an anonymous person just figured something out and it hopefully stuck with them. I love the feeling when a student goes away from a session happy. I get to work with amazing students who really want to learn. I love interacting with them one-on-one, and I know when they leave, they have learned enough to be successful i ... View Profile

I have a lot of experience teaching classes and tutoring individuals, since, already in the first grade, my teacher asked me to tutor other students who needed help.  Patience is a key point, and making the material interesting and exciting is another.  However, they are not the only keys to successful tutoring.  I have a deep and clear understanding of the material as well as ability to explain things clearly, step by step.  I often find that teachers and textbooks do not always break things down to the most basic level; they may inadvertently assume certain things, and this impli ... I love math and help others enjoy it too!  I taught all levels of middle and high school math during my time as a teacher.  I taught Physics for two years as well.  I'm preparing for my third actuarial exam this Spring so I am compelled to share how math is applied in real life situations.  My last teaching assignment before retiring was at Carrollton School of the Sacred Heart in Coconut Grove (Miami) Florida.  Search it on Google images.  A beautiful place to teach and visit.  It has a rich and interesting history.  In addition to teaching math and science at Carrollton I was the 9th grade vex robotic ... I primarily tutor SATs, ACTs, ISEEs and SSATs. I cover all subjects on each exam, and employ a holistic method to combat test anxiety. I believe that tutoring should be a short and focused experience that boosts a student's confidence in her own abilities, particularly in the realm of college prep. In addition to SAT and ACT, I assist students with college applications and essays and work with younger students on math, reading, and grammar skills.  ... View Profile
