I love to help students learn the math can be fun and does make sense. Ihave been teaching 6th math for 8 years now and it is my favorite part of the day! Especially when my students want to help each other. I am a certified teacher and have an Associates Degree in Elementary Education, I also have an Associates Degree in Secondary Education. My Bachelors Degree is in Elementary Education. Lastly, I have a Masters Degree in Teaching English to Students of Other Languages. I believe that math is a language of its own and feel that I can use my knowledge in all areas to help students develop a new understanding of math.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Understanding the areas they need help in, and accessing their learning style.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am a full time 6th teacher with 8 years of experience. I worked as a substitute teacher for 4 years while earning my degree. I also work at a child care facility where I am in charge of making contact with parents and children, helping the other teachers keep our records organized and up to date for presentation to state/Focus auditors.

I charge $12 and hour to tutor elementary school children. $15 an hour to tutor middle/high school students.
How did you get started teaching?
I made a decision that more teachers were needed that truly understood the needs of all children. My sons were both diagnosed ADHD and were often in trouble for one thing or another. I know they weren't perfect or at times very easily handled, but I also knew that if someone would just take a moment to offer to help them get through the situation, a lot of time and hurt feelings could have been spared.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with children across varying abilities, some severe and profound children, children that have been separated from all other students and basically quarantined to one on one learning with me.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I am so glad to be going back into the classroom on a daily basis. Right now we have returned to the hybrid model, in which 10 of my students come to school Monday and Tuesday while my other 11 students work from home joining the class through Teams meetings. Wednesday students work online doing work I have assigned. On Thur sand Friday the other group comes to school and we work as a class with the 10 students that are at home. In the beginning of April, it is expected to have all students back in school 4-5 days a week.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Make sure the teacher has patience and can help you with your needs.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
What is their best quality. I want students to be able to look at their own positives and be able to portray those before they bring up their struggles.
