I've been doing this for five years plus. I have a passion for taking difficult math concepts and explaining them simply.
I'm a professional math coach for Lux Middle School, for an organization called MathCounts. We have won the State Competition for several years in a row, and qualified for the National Competition and coached NE's team 3 years in a row.
I am pursuing a teaching certification in high school math and in addition I have a pure math major, taking high-level classes in group theory, linear transformations, complex variables, number theory and topology.
I enjoy challenging the ambitious math student as well as encouraging and inspiring the one who struggles.

This is very negotiable! I've charged anywhere from $15 for standard tutoring to $40 for competition-level.
How did you get started teaching?
In math classes in high school, my friends would be struggling and I discovered a passion and knack for explaining math concepts thoroughly, clearly, and understandably.
What types of students have you worked with?
I've worked with the top math students in the state, those who love math and want a challenge, those who struggle but want to succeed, and those who hate it and just want to get by.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
1) Make sure they know the content very well, and aren't just looking to waste your time and make a quick buck. Sometimes underqualified "tutors" get in over their heads a bit because they passed some class.
2) Make sure they actually want to help you. Sometimes "tutors" are good at their content area, but are only looking for side work and don't actually care about the quality of their instruction.
