About
By adapting my tutoring strategies to a student's learning and communication styles, my tutoring is significantly more effective because it offers the best instruction for each individual students. We know that no two students are the same, and my adaptable tutoring strategy maximizes its effectiveness by taking this into account.
The most enojyable part of tutoring is the student's transformation beyond simply gaining knowledge of a subject. Seeing a student grow in confidence towards new porblems and develop a hunger for learning are experiences that will stick with them beyond the exam. In adddion to helping studetns improve grades and scores, I enjoy setting students up for a lifetime of academic success and continuous learning.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
The first thing I typically do when meeting a student is getting to know them by hearing their goals and passions outside of the classroom. Tutoring will be much more enjoyable and effective if I care for the student as a person and not just a customer. Next, I typically dive into their academic goals, why they want a tutor, and how they think I can best help them be successful. Spending time up front talking about learning styles and how they retain new material will save tons of time during tutoring sessions by allowing me to cater my tutoring sytles to their individual needs. After we've covered all of this, let's get started!
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I graduated Summa Cum Laude in Biomedcial Engineering from NC State, and I am more than qualified to tutor any level of Math, Physics, Chemistry, and Biology. I also have more than 2 years of experience in tutoring including a college course on tutoring strategies and how they can be adapted depending on a student's learning styles.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
I typically start by offering students and their parents the rate that I see other tutors making for similar tutoring. Course difficulty, hours per week, flexibility of hours, and driving distance/online tutoring are the biggest factors that affect the price.
How did you get started teaching?
Freshman year of college, I found myself helping students in my dorm with homework frequently, and I decided that I really enjoyed it, so I took a class to make me a more effective tutor, then started tutoring calculus and chemistry through NC State, and I have loved it ever since!
What types of students have you worked with?
I have mostly worked with college underclassmen studying precalculus, calculus, introductory chemistry, and intermediate chemistry courses. I have also worked with high school students in AP Calculus and SAT/ACT test prep.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
Any time my family can get together is awesome, but my grandparents have not been going out much since COVID-19 started. Teaching them how to use google meet and having a large google meet with my family was really sweet and something I want to do again soon.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Find a tutor that you enjoy working with. Even if they have the maximum qualificaitons for tutoring, you have to enjoy working with them if you want to enjoy learning and excel in your subject!
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Students should think through specifically how they want to improve and how they typically retain information. Every student hiring a tutor wants to improve their grade, so figuring out how a tutor can specifically help you will make the experience much more effective for the tutor and the student.
