K B. says, "Maria is an exceptional high school math tutor. We were lucky to slide into a mid year opening in her schedule and then continued to work with her through two more academic years, NCMath 2, 3 and 4 honors. She is a patient teacher who relates extremely well to teenage students. My son was not initially comfortable asking for or getting help, but after just a couple of meetings with Maria he was glad for the extra assistance and his grades and confidence both went up." Hello, my name is Alexandria. I worked at St. Petersburg College, where I tutored math for a year. I then spent two years tutoring at Tarpon Springs Elementary School. For the past five years, I have been tutoring privately. I hold a Bachelor's degree in Applied Mathematics from the University of South Florida and am currently a PhD student in Biomathematics at North Carolina State University. I understand that math can be a challenging subject for many, so I enjoy finding ways to help people grasp mathematical concepts. Since everyone processes information differently, I love tutoring because it allows for personalized lesson plans tailored

I offer a free 30-minute session, to help the student evaluate my services and also for me to understand the student's needs and develop a curriculum based on my findings. Maria has been tutoring my son Aiden for several months in Pre-Calc. I've very pleased with her demeanor, inviting semi- Socratic style and thoughtful approach as she guides him through his lessons. She carefully identifies his strengths and weaknesses then helps him transition into more critical thought and reflection working through the why's, how's, and relevance of each problem area in the overall scheme. He comes to his own solutions (most of the time--lol!) in ways that build on his strengths and strengthens his weaknesses in a fun way. With Maria its not just getting the right answers, its understanding the right questions. Aiden looks forward to his sessions each week and his grades reflect her impact. I see his confidence building in learning. Most importantly, Aiden is smiling again when it comes to math and looks forward to preparing for each week! Thanks Maria!

NIck is no-nonsense but still warm and approachable. He figures out essentially now the student's 'Math brain' works, and where they might have missed some building blocks, and basically rehabilitates their Math skills. Our son, and we, highly recommend him!
