I have 18 years of experience with reading and math interventions at the elementary level as well as an active teaching license with an endorsement in Middle School Communications and Literature and a Master's in Reading with a focus on Dyslexia and LD. I am a licensed teacher with over 20 years of experience. I have taught and tutored students from kindergarten through high school. I am also a children's book writer. I have a B.A. in Elementary Education and two Master's Degrees, one for education and one for writing. I really like to figure out how to get learning to work for students, wherever they are beginning. The creativity I can bring to the work is so much fun. Over the past five years, I have worked as a licensed elementary teacher in diverse roles. I had two years in my own classroom, followed by three years in specialist roles. Throughout this time, I have especially enjoyed opportunities to tutor both students who need some reinforcement of concepts, as well as those looking for a challenge. I am comfortable teaching all subjects K-8, and have experience with public, private, and homeschool education. As your child's tutor, I will always provide encouragement, foster a love of learning, and provide an individualized approach.

I graduated from Arizona State University with a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry and Master's in Nanoscience. I tutored college level writing and Literature during my undergraduate degree, and I taught biochemistry lab classes while completing my graduate degree. While I enjoyed teaching, I found working 1:1 with students to be the most rewarding in a tutoring type setting. It is a lot of fun to delve into assignments, and help bridge the gaps between the lectures and assignments. My goal is to foster a fun and positive learning environment, and give students the tools they need to complete the material for current and future assignments.

I have been a teacher for 25 years. I have taught 6th grade Language Arts (reading and writing) for 17 years, 2nd grade for 3 years, and Reading Strategies to students who are below grade level for 5 years. I have a Master’s in Literacy. My passion is working with students who are below grade level in their reading skills. I love teaching reading to any age, no matter what level you are! I also enjoy teaching writing skills and English/grammar/speaking skills.
