I've been tutoring for 7 years. I've had experience working with students in both individual and group settings on a variety of STEM topics. I've taught students with a vast array of learning styles. I got an 800 on Math for the SAT and the SAT Math 2 Subject test. At MIT, I am studying Electrical Engineering and Computer Science.
I enjoy using different methods to ensure that students understand what they're learning and all the applications from it. I also really enjoy the experience of seeing students during their ah-ha moments!

Amanda was a great tutor. She helped me in the weeks leading up to my calc 2 exam. She provided great instruction, walking me through problems I had trouble with and providing helpful videos and worksheets for me to practice with. 10/10 would recomend!
Extremely patient helps me understand the material and is very good teacher I would recommend Ms. Horne to anybody looking for a solid Math Tutor.
She had a clear plan of learning goals for our child and understood how to achieve them with her. She is more than a tutor, but a mentor.
She can explai math concepts in different ways.
During the first meeting, I will try explaining the material in a bunch of different learning styles. I encourage students to tell me everything they know when attempting a problem, and ask them to tell me when they don't understand something. I usually have a clear understanding of their learning style by the end of that first session, and I modify my lessons for the future accordingly.
I'm a current student at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology studying Electrical Engineering and Computer Science. I've scored a perfect score on the Math part of the SAT and on the Math II SAT Subject test. I've also had 5 EECS internships - one for a military defense firm, one working on a new project using Machine Learning at the company nfrastructure, one at IBM Research, one at a Network Engineering and Security Consulting company redesigning the US Department of Transportation's network, and one at Microsoft being a Program Manager. I've also worked on tons of different side projects and participated in lots of Hackathons throughout high school and college.
I usually charge $50/hr. This, however, is negotiable depending on the students circumstances.
I started tutoring students in high school, because I wanted to give back to my community. I've since continued working with students from all over the country helping them with Math and Computer Science.
I've worked with students from age 7-22 and adults from age 30-55 from across the nation who need help or want to further advance their knowledge in Math and/or Computer Science. I've helped students with a variety of learning styles, as well as students with learning disabilities.
Make sure that the teacher/tutor is staying in the loop on changes that might be happening in both the subject their teaching and updates to Standardized Tests. Advancements are being made every day in all different areas, and Collegeboard, ACT and other testing organizations make modifications to the content covered on their exams each year.
What step do you get stuck on? If you are having trouble on how to start the problem, write down what you would do if you had to guess, and explain the reason why. That way, teachers/tutors can understand what you are thinking and help guide you in being able to solve those problems.
