Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I first take the time to get to know them. I firmly believe in the importance of knowing who your students are before you teach them! My next step is helping students establish goals for tutoring by finding out what they want to get out of tutoring and how they want to improve. Then, I work with the student to create a plan for the sessions that we have together so that we are sure to use our time most effectively.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I studied secondary education as an undergrad and received a degree in English Literature with a Secondary Education minor at Northeastern University. I am a licensed English teacher in the state of Massachusetts for grades 5-12. I have experience teaching at the high school and middle school level.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with a wide variety of students from a variety of backgrounds. I have taught at the college level, high school honors level, high school standard level, and special education. I have experience supporting students with learning disabilities, particularly ADHD and Autism. I have taught mostly in Boston, which is a very diverse city.
