Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I meet with a new student to understand their background, goals, any problems they are having in school, and reasons for wanting to deepen their understanding of math. I then do an introductory session to find out where the student is at and to tailor a plan for their needs.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a master in Physics and my minors have been always in applied Mathematics. I have been teaching and tutoring mathematics and physics at all levels between high school, college and university
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
I usually charge:
$40/hour for high school
$45/hour for college and university
How did you get started teaching?
I started teaching while I was a student at the Istituto Universitario Navale of Napoli because my teacher at the high school I graduated from had some health problems and requested for me to substitute teach for him. Then I got married and came to the US where I raise and homeschooled my three daughter (they finished their high school two years ahead of time) and so I started tutoring and eventually teaching at Ivy Tech and IUPUI
What types of students have you worked with?
High school, Community College and University
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I am tutoring with ClubZ and I was assigned to tutor a young man who had an unusual fear of taking tests because he was unsure of his understanding of algebra. I didn't have much time before his final test, but we worked on reviewing and practicing and in the week we had he felt he was able to take his test and passed with flying color. I felt very good about it and reminded me of my decition to homeschool my daughters when my oldest daughter who had been in a private Christian school since kindergarden came home saying she could not understand math because she was a girl. Right then and then I started to teach her at home and math became her favorite subject...
She is now a teacher!
