About this tutor

I am a recent graduate from the University of Zambia with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Environmental Education with History. I am a hardworking, dedicated and zealous young woman with abilities to work under minimum supervision. I am an easy learner who is self-motivated, willing to learn new things and is ready to explore my capabilities even more. I have been tutoring for 3 years now mostly to freshman while in university, I later underwent an intensive teaching practice befor graduation at chelstone seconda school from January to March, 2019 where I had an excellent assessment of my teaching skills.

My aim as a tutor is to create in my students a deeper, known understanding and confidence in answering exam questions and  being able to tackle new and unfamiliar problems. My philosophy is based on the idea that learning happens in an environment of mutual respect in which the student is encouraged to think and make new connections for themselves. My experience has been that one-to-one personal tuition has a unique value to students because of the ability to resolve the students’ personal barriers to learning in a way that lays the foundations for a deep and lasting understanding of the subject. My approach varies depending on the student’s needs and learning style. However my teaching philosophy is based on encouraging students to think for themselves, using real-world examples wherever possible. I start from topics the students are comfortable with and move gradually towards more complex areas as their confidence builds by asking questions and examples to check understanding continually. I believe passionately in the huge value of tutoring to students and take great satisfaction in seeing my students achieve their full potential.

If given this opportunity, I will maximise it to the best of my abilities so as to acquire skills, knowledge and experience that I may use further in my career and at the same time contribute to the growth and expansion of your organisation.

Your kind response will be highly appreciated as you would be an extraordinary opportunity that will help upgrade my experience and my resume.

I enjoying meeting new people from different countries and cultures and helping them learn English while still returning their culture. I am always up for a challenge, passionate about tutoring different people and I am always proud when I accomplish goals set with my students within a specific period of time.

I like how she teaches English in relation to real life events. She focuses on helping me improve on my grama often.

I liked the fact that the lessons are sometimes one on one and also that they make you feel like you are part of a classroom when she's teaching a few students at once. I also like the fact that the lessons are interactive and that there is always homework, evaluation and assessments of lessons.

FAQs

What is your typical process for working with a new student?

My typical process for working with a new student is first getting to know them and what they want out of our sessions, basically creating goals together in relation to the lessons. Later I get in depth in order for me to understand what they know so I can build up on that. I start from things they have knowledge about in English and later begin building up to what they should know after a specific period of time.
