I am an elementary Special Education Teacher. I have degrees in early childhood development and applied behavior. I hold a Florida Teacher Certification in Elementary Education and Exceptional Student Education,and a Reading Endorsement. I've been working with children in the area of reading fluency, phonological awareness, and comprehension for 10 years. I am trained in the Orton-Gillingham method of phonics instruction.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I will begin with a fluency assessment and phonics diagnostic to determine the best course of action.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am a Certified Educator and hold a reading endorsement. I am also Orton-Gillingham trained in phonics instruction.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
I work in 30 minute sessions to avoid student burnout and charge $25 per 30 minute session. A minimum of 3 sessions per week is suggested.
How did you get started teaching?
I took my love for children and education and turned it into a career.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with children ages 4 through 15. Students are typically at least one grade level behind in reading, but the majority have been students with learning disabilities.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
All of the "aha" moments are near and dear to my heart.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Look for someone who knows how to and wants to build rapport with your child first. Then find someone whose expertise matches your child's needs.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
What is the area I want to improve in the most? What foundational skills do I need to learn first?
