Sharon has been a Godsend. She is very personable and has gone above and beyond to make math fun. She is also an excellent communicator and provides a detailed report each time she works with my daughter. I highly recommend her!!

    Frequently asked questions

The first session or two sessions are about learning what type of student with whom I am working. I take about 10 minutes to learn more about the student and what their goals about tutoring and their future in general. This will make it clear what this student needs and how I can help them in any given timeframe.

I have been in the education field for over twenty years and a private tutor for over ten years. I have a Master's degree in Education as well as over ten years of classroom teaching.

School subject tutoring: $50 in person, $40 online

Test Prep tutoring: $100 in person, $70 online

I was a swim instructor when I was in high school. I fell in love with teaching students new skills. After earning my Bachelor's degree I worked in outdoor education which combined my love of nature with the satisfaction of helping students learn.

I have worked with students in fourth grade through College. I specialize in Geometry and Algebra II as well as test prep tutoring.

I work with a fifth-grader over the summer to keep up his math skills. He told me that he was going to NASA this summer so I planned a whole review curriculum based on his new favorite rocketship: Atlantis. It has been very fun this summer using math to determine the average speed of Atlantis in orbit, and the volume and density of the geometric portions of the boosters.

Think about how much time you have to pursue tutoring. If you are not willing to set aside time to improve, it will not be worth the financial expense.

Think about what type of tutor you are looking for;  some students perform better when their hands are being held while others do better when they are held accountable.

What skills do I need to improve to do better in class?

What resources was I given that I should be looking through before asking a question?
