Natalia Alvarez helped me improvd my English grammar skills during my freshman year in College. Although my spoken English has always been good, when it comes to writing it hasn't been that way. She tutored me when I took Advanced Literature and helped me get my ideas through in my essays and writings for the class. She is an outstanding tutor.

FAQs

What is your typical process for working with a new student?

Since every student is different and unique, my typical process for working with a new student is to ask them what their expectations are, and what is it they consider that they should work on the most at the moment. That way, once I have a clearer picture of their doubts, I can quickly assess and arrange the most effective study plan possible.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I have been a practicing English, Math, and Science tutor since August 2011. I've provided both individualized and group tutoring in tutoring centers and universities.

How did you get started teaching?

I got started teaching after volunteering in a daycare/tutoring center while finishing my senior high school year.

What types of students have you worked with?

I've worked with children from the ages of 4 to 17, as well as with college students. I've also had the opportunity to work with high school and college students with special needs for 4 years.

What advice would you give a student looking to hire a tutor in your area of expertise?

Look for a tutor that is going to help you achieve your goals. That may sound obvious, but you want a tutor that gets you, and wants to help you. Tutoring isn't "just a job". It's helping a young, eager student stay focused and motivated, while getting them at least one step closer to becoming the future adult they want to be.
