About

As a young American I was born in the North and then raised in the South. This has made me very accent neutral. This ability, as well as my thorough conversational and public speaking skills put me in the spotlight when I applied for and was given a job at a group of local radio stations in 2015 voicing and creating commercials.

I have a younger brother with learning disabilities, which has been a constant opportunity to engage with him and practice my teaching abilities. After twenty years, I've both gotten pretty good at it, and grown a passion for it.

I have an Associate's Degree in Liberal Arts and Sciences, and plan to pursue a Ph.D. in Psychology. At some point in the future I plan to apply for the JET program, to fly overseas and teach Japanese children how to speak English in a useful, conversational way.

I hope this brief introduction has helped you to choose me for your English needs.

Frequently asked questions

My first step when starting with a new student is to assess what they already know, this can be by conversation, or by specific questioning. My next step is to work with the student to know what they prefer, and not to force a student into a program that might not fit them the best.

I'm a native English speaker with a wide vocabulary, and great interpersonal skills. I have an Associate's Degree, and am going back to school to finish a Doctorate's in Psychology.

Futhermore, I spent a year working for a local group of radio stations as a voice actor, making commercials, and I spent a lot of that time helping other people learn to use their voices to make their own commercials.

I've also spent the entirety of my life helping my brother, who has a learning disability, to understand both basic and complex concepts, and it's become an absolute joy for me.

My rate is $12 per hour of video or audio call instruction, with a dedication of two hours per day. I do plan to respond to as many text inquiries as possible, I have an account on HelloTalk that I plan to never make any money from, and I will update this when new lanes of communication open up.

I started teaching my younger brother in my childhood, but professionally, I started to really teach when I was instructing others on how to make a radio commercial sound professional. After that I did a good stint as a substitute teacher (and yes, I was THAT substitute teacher that learned the lessons just to teach them back to the class.)

HelloTalk blows my mind every day. The joy that people get from learning English, and especially the joy that I get teaching them, is something that I never tire of. It's incredible watching people develop their skills, especially as they begin to convey more and more complex topics with their sentences.

I would advise anyone looking to learn English to think about what it is they truly need from it. Are you just taking a trip to London and need to know how to survive or are you trying to learn English to become a professional in a field where your native tongue is rare? These points are crucial to making sure that anyone who will be teaching you can focus on what you really need, and not waste your time and money on useless information.
