About

I am a certified high school English teacher currently teaching at North Port High School. I also have a certification in Elementary Education, plus endorsements in English as a Second Language (ESOL) and Reading. I love teaching and learning, and working with students one-on-one to help improve their skillset is one of my passions. There's nothing like seeing the lightbulb go off when a student understands something that they have been struggling to grasp!

Frequently asked questions

First step ALWAYS is building trust and comfort. A student cannot learn if they don't trust the person that they are learning from. Then we move into establishing a baseline to find a starting point--what does the student feel like they are struggling with? What do I feel would be the best way to attack these concerns? Once we have a baseline established, then the real learning can begin!

I graduated from the Elementary Education program at Florida State University in 2017, and since then have taught kindergarten and high school English (I know--very different!). I have completed my first year of teaching high school English.

Generally, I charge $20/hour.

I have wanted to be a teacher since I was in elementary school! I had this crazy and fun second grade teacher that inspired me to do what she does--making learning fun.

I have worked with a large variety of students, from 3 years old to 19 years old. I interned in a fifth grade classroom, taught kindergarten, and taught high school English. I also have been tutoring since I was in high school myself, starting out by helping friends with their homework. While I was in college, I tutored middle school students in all subjects.

Ask questions. If something isn't immediately clear from their ad/profile, then ask them questions. Most teachers are very willing to alleviate any concerns and questions you have, but it only works when you ask.
