Open Tent Academy offers families an exciting opportunity to change the way learning happens at home. Advances in internet bandwidth, and educational technologies now allow Open Tent to bring anyone, located anywhere in the world, a variety of quality classes, covering a wide array of topics and subjects.
Teaching is part of me! I have been in education since 1990 as a classroom teacher, homeschooling mother, homeschooling teacher, private tutor (online and in person) and an online teacher! I can't imagine doing anything else. I believe that students CAN learn when given the "tools" they need to succeed.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
After speaking with the parents (and teachers if allowed), I asses the students strengths and weakness in the subject matter I am tutoring in. I use the students strengths to combat any "problem areas" (weaknesses) in the subject matter. I try to relate to the students through their interests, hobbies and more taking a very personal approach in them! I have worked with thousands (maybe ten-thousands) of students over the last 30 years!
