What is your typical process for working with a new student?
First: I'll assess your current proficiency using standard tests and personalized questions.
Second: I'll formulate a learning plan of materials for you to study on your own time.
Third: We'll have regular meetings to improve your learning and review your progress.
My tutoring will be an opportunity to assess learning, answer questions, explore the materials, and gain a firmer grasp on the relations between seemingly disparate facts.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I'm a trained teacher with a TEFL certificate and a Bachelor's of Arts in Political Science and Economics. I have years of effective tutoring experience in reading, phonics, reading comprehension, grammar, rhetorical and creative writing, and standardized test preparation.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
I generally ask for $30 for an hour of in-person instruction and $50 for two.
I ask $20 per page for help in writing academic papers and assignments and $120 per college admissions essay. That includes creating ideas, writing an outline, meeting to create structure and write drafts, and final editing.
