Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I had a student who was very isolated. She resisted answering in fear of being wrong and she resisted going outside for fresh air. At the end of the school year, she invited me to tutor her outdoors, saying that she had started to enjoy our lessons outside. My heart opened up and grew two sizes.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Make sure it’s someone with whom you can communicate comfortably.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
I think it’s important for the tutor to know what interests the students have and learn how to connect accordingly.
