Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
First we spend time discussing what the student's needs and expectations are. Then we set up an Action Plan that will set specific goals for the student in a time frame with which they are comfortable. Then we get to work!
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Our tutors are current/former teachers, or experienced tutors. We are certified for ESE, ESOL, Reading, Math, and Social Studies. We also have experience prepping for college entrance exams as well as AP exams.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
We have three types of plans.
1. Catch up: This is for students who have not had success in previous years in a subject and are looking to get back on level. This plan is $40 per one hour session.
2. Course Coach: this is for students who have trouble with a specific course and simply want help passing that specific class. This plan is $40 per one hour session.
3. College Prep: This plan is for kids in HighSchool looking for a passing score on an AP or college entrance exam like the SAT or ACT. This plan is $95 per one hour session.
How did you get started teaching?
We all had varying paths to get to teaching. Some of us have degrees in Education, some have degrees in specific subject areas, and others simply have lots of tutoring experience from their time in high school and college.
What types of students have you worked with?
All types. K-12. English language learners, special needs, autism, gifted...
