Hi! I'm Christy and I have been teaching in some way, shape, or form for the past 23+ years! I have taught everything from preschool art (so fun!) to high school philosophy (also fun). I love every aspect of teaching and helping a student achieve their goals and experience success. I have been a public school 2nd grade teacher, private tutor, preschool teacher, and high school director. But my favorite teaching role has been homeschooling my own two children for the past 13 years! I also have an M.Ed. in elementary education.

I have been a teacher for more than 40 years to students of different ages, levels and needs. Inside-Out Learning Hub means that I cater to my students strengths and consider academic, emotional, psychological, social and physical needs and abilities . Learning should feel clear, possible, empowering and fun. I create a support system for students where tutor, student, parents and teachers can collaborate to help the student succeed. I use various strategies both traditional and innovative to achieve learning and skill development in engaging and positive sessions were students can thrive.

I have been teaching children to read for 20 years, specializing in the teaching of beginning reading skills. Most of my classroom teaching years have been spent in the Kindergarten classroom, although I have taught 1st grade & 3rd grade, as well. Currently, my work has brought me to train other teachers to help develop their own readers. During my years in the classroom, I found that although some students met expectations for going on to 1st grade from Kindergarten, they just weren't strong enough as readers to sustain in 1st grade.
