I am an English and Social Studies teacher with 10 years of experience. I have taught 7th-12th grade. For the last four years I have been teaching at a hybrid virtual school. My students earned some of the highest test scores in the state.

I am certified to teach 6-12 English and Social Studies in Louisiana, Michigan, and Florida.

I also tutor for the ACT exam. One of my students told his classmates that I am the G.O.A.T. after I tutored him and he raised his ACT score!

Mrs Solomon is the BEST teacher that there ever was. She is very thorough with explaining things and is very hands on. She connects with her students and always helps you when you need it. I wish I could have had her as my teacher forever!

Ms.Solomon really puts in time to make sure that you understand. She also explains in a way that make some complicated seem simple. If you need help with language or writing she is the right person to choose.

Very professional, kind, and helpful. My English skills increased a lot since working with GOAT English Tutoring. Highly recommend.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?

Depending on the situation I might give a short pre-assessment or look at a student's previous work. Occasionally I simply have a conversation with the student about their strengths and weaknesses.

I also spend time making a personal connection with the student, so they know that I care about them and they can trust me.

Once I know what my student needs I break down concepts and standards to help them understand.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I have taught English for 10 years. I have a M.Ed in Education. I am also certified to teacher Social Studies and taught American History for two years.

What types of students have you worked with?

Most of my experience hs been with high school and college students. I prefer working with students who generally don't perform well in school. I love being able to help people become successful at something they have not been able to do well in the past.

What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?

Do I know this already? Am I using what I have already learned?
