About this tutor

I have very good English skills and 15 years of substitute teaching experience and experience tutoring. Substituting is essentially tutoring on the spot. I have a BS degree in Journalism and I was at one time a Special Education major. I have and can teach all levels because I have experience with all levels. I have an emphasis in English and writing, but I can teach other social sciences. I am kind and patient. I am just a few credits shy of an English teacher certification that includes K to 12. Thank you.

I've been working with Marcie for a month and I really feel more confident about my English. She is very friendly and understands my weak points to work on them, she encourages me to have a better vocabulary on casual conversations as well as professional environment.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?

I first say kind things and ask short personal questions. Then I ask what the student is working on and ask what he or she has trouble with in a certain lesson from school in a positive encouraging way. Then I work through the lesson and see what we can do to improve his or her understanding. I always give positive feedback and high fives and end on that note. Thank you.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
