About
I have tutored in math before, and am an expert in geometry, calculus, algebra, and their practical application. With degrees in mechanical and aerospace engineering, as well as computer science, and many years as a technology manager, I bring a practical understanding of the importance of math to real life.
Also, as the developer of a theory of knowledge that was applied successfully in artificial intelligence software used by such clients as P&G and Baxter Healthcare, I have a special understanding of how to teach reasoning, concept formation, and idea validation. These mental skills help all students to think more clearly and be better students than their peers.
I like using mathematics and am good at it. It is amazing how powerful math has become because software systems use it better than people ever could. But it is still important to understand math and to be comfortable thinking mathematically.
Math is very important for software development, and programmers can build all kinds of things that make money and make life interesting.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Talk to them briefly about what they understand about the study, and then try to discover their motivating/demotivating ideas that might stand in the way of their learning, in a friendly way in order to get to know them a bit.
