About
My service stands out because I individualize my sessions based on the student's learning style, not solely on the content.
I love working and talking with kids! I feel that I learn more from them then I thought possible. If they are not surprising me with the way they look at the world and the questions they ask, they are teaching me how to be a better teacher by expressing their views on the subject.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
When working with a new student, I like to first get to know them as a learner. What are their interests, what motivates them, what is their learning style? Then, I build lessons around their strengths. For example, if the students it a kinesthetic learner, then I do my best to provide hands on activities, where students can manipulate information to gain a better understanding of the context.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I hold a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education. I also have endorsements in Social Science (k-5), Reading (k-12), and Psychology (k-12). With my degree, I have 5 years of in-classroom experience. I have taught students from grades k-8th, as well as piloted STEAM programs in two schools.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
I do a standard price of $30 per hour, with a 1 hour minimum. For families with multiple students, it is $15 for each additional child.
How did you get started teaching?
Teaching has always been a passion of mine. I started as a substitute teacher. This allowed me to see all grade levels and subject areas while I honed in on my skills and areas of interest.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with students from grades k through 8th.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
My advice would be to think about the area you would like help in and why you need help. Think about the type of teaching you are receiving now. Then look for someone who can fill in the blanks. Not every student learns the same way, and not every teach teaches the same way. Do you best to find someone who compliments your learning style.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Are you seeking tutoring because you are struggling with a subject or because you need something more challenging?
Are you seeking tutoring for long term assistance, homework help, test prep, etc.?
How do you like to receive information; in writing, visual pictures, hand on activities, or being told about something?
What motivates you in school? Competition, words of encouragement, challenging puzzles to solve, or being the best at something?
