About

I have been tutoring math for 5 years, starting at The Institute for Learning and Teaching at Colorado State University (CSU), in Fort Collins, Colorado. Since then I have worked for CSU's Adult Learners and Veteran Services and Tutorme.com. I've worked with a wide range of students and subjects, from 40 year olds taking algebra for the first time, to teenagers learning Multivariable Calculus. I love making math less intimadating, and sometimes even fun for students of all types of backgrounds!

Like many students, I didn't really like math for a long time. It wasn't until the teachers and resources I found in college that I began to really enjoy math, which even lead to me working as a math tutor! This unique path helps me understand why many students struggle in their math classes. I try to teach math in a way that even those with an aversion to the subject can understand and enjoy!

I worked with Sean in “group tutoring” for calculus 1. Then again for one-on-one tutoring during calculus 2, calculus 3, AND differential equations.
He simplifies the topics you cover in class so well. He is a phenomenal tutor and REALLY knows his stuff. He’s been tutoring for so long that he also knows what’s important for the exams and basically what will be on them. He’s great!!

He was one of the absolute kindest human beings I’ve ever met. He’s relatable, humble, and down to earth. He’s an elite combination of patience, and kindness. I can guarantee as a student who struggles with math, that this guy is second to none in his ability to make the math fun, enjoyable, and understandable.

Sean is literally the best tutor Ive ever had with college algebra. He takes his time to make sure youre understanding the topic, and doesnt make you feel dumb while doing it. I would give him more than 5 stars if I was able to!

    Frequently asked questions

The first session will consist of a 10 minute Introductory block to go over strengths/weaknesses and the general outline of the course over the next weeks or months followed by 50 minutes of tutoring on the students current content.

The hours will be left up to the student, options range from 1 hour every 2 weeks to 6 hours a week.

I have a bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering with a minor in Mathematics. I have worked as a peer math tutor for 4 years for The Institute for Learning and Teaching at Colorado State University, Fort Collins, and the Adult Learners and Veterans services. During my time working for CSU, I underwent training CRLA-certified courses designed to help tutors teach students with maximum efficiency.

The First Session is only $15. If the student would like to continue working together, the remaining sessions for the rest of the the course the price per hour-session will be $30.

A fellow student recommend that I start working as a math tutor for The Institute for Learning and Teaching at CSU. I found working as a tutor to be very fulfilling and enjoyable work so I've remained a math tutor for the following 4 years.

I have generally worked with students ranging from age 18-40. I have also worked with many US veterans during my time working for the Adult Learners and Veteran Services at CSU.

I had worked with one student for 2 full years, during this time I didn't just see his math skills improve, I saw him learn how to learn math faster. That is, he didn't just understand more content, he developed an intuition. It made me realize that math ability is not an innate skill, and can be developed.

A good tutor will make you look forward to working with them. Math, and school in general, can be tedious at times, but knowing and working with the right people can make it easier.

"Do I understand the vocabulary?" (if not, look it up online)

"Can I find another resource that explains this?" (There are a lot of online resources and videos that can explain a general concept)

"How should I be thinking about this?" (Teachers will approach math in many different ways, usually based off their own personal approach to math, think about how your instructor wants you to approach the problems)
