What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Our first one-hour session is free. It is spent getting to know each other, discussing how the student learns best, and then working through some concepts/homework. It gives me the opportunity to better understand the student's learning style, while the student gets the opportunity to see if I'm the tutor they want.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
B.A. Mathematics from UCCS (Cum Laude with Distinction in Math)
M.A. Curriculum and Instruction from UCCS (math emphasis)
Undergraduate Certificate in Accounting from PPCC
Graduate Certificate in Accounting from Keller Graduate School of Management
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
The first one-hour session is free. $20-50/hour depending on student's grade and course.
How did you get started teaching?
I first started teaching 5-6 year olds in Sunday School as a teenager. As for math, I first starting teaching as a grad student in college. I didn't just do a Friday recitation type question and answer session for a professor, but taught full courses. I was hooked. I loved sharing my knowledge and helping students succeed. My teaching experience is middle school Pre-Algebra through College Linear Algebra. I never formally taught accounting, but when I was an Accounting Manager I always hired newer accountants and helped them to grow.
