Fun fact: I can recite every line of the movie The Princess Bride. Hi, I'm Sylvia, and I love working with students. The most rewarding part of tutoring for me is when a new concept “clicks” with a student - their excitement is contagious, and it’s a privilege to be able to help them reach that point! On a more personal level, I am a friendly, outdoorsy, athletic, and talkative type of person! I partner with students on a one-on-one basis in STEM subjects through SoFlo Tutors, my tutoring agency. I studied Economics at the University of St. Andrews and have been tutoring for 2 years. At SoFlo, we work to raise grades, strengthen understandin

I am recent college graduate from the University of Notre Dame where I studied Computer Science in the college of engineering. While in college, I was a teachers assistant and tutor for some of the most rigorous computer science courses. Overall, I enjoy teaching and helping others to learn, and my strengths in Math and Computer Science are where I know I can really make the most impact. My goal is to cater the teaching for the individual and make sure there is true learning happening beyond the surface level by working with both the parent and student as necessary.

Hi, my name is Colin. On a personal level, I am a gamer, musician, and outdoorsy type of person, and I love working with students. Fun fact about me: I can move my middle finger tendon without moving my finger. I partner with students on a one-on-one basis in STEM subjects through SoFlo Tutors, my tutoring agency. Michelle G. says, "Flatirons Tutoring is an asset to our community and we would highly recommend using this service for SAT/ACT prep or any specific subject support. Our high school senior worked with Cris in math, reading, and science to bolster his current course performance and prepare for college entrance exams. We saw growth in our son's confidence, ability, and scores which enabled him to be competitive when applying for scholarships and colleges. Although first reluctant to spend the money and time on a tutoring service, we are grateful to have found Cris and realize it was well worth the investment!" Read more

Kangsoo Y. says, "We just moved to the US from Korea and the change has been very tough for my kids. They are not familiar with the US school system and falling behind. I saw their confidence draining. But all of that changed when SoFlo came into the picture. To start, they gave a free assessment so they could figure out where my children were struggling. From there we had weekly tutoring sessions that my kids actually enjoy. I am seeing their confidence return and life in the US get better for them" Read more

We had a great experience with this program and would highly recommend!! My son was coming off a rough year of high school due to Covid restrictions and really regressed on his math. He was in Honors math and struggling mightily. Cris worked with him on a weekly basis and built his foundational knowledge back up to the point where he's in AP Calculus in this final year of HS and averaging over a 95 with a 100 on a couple of tests! I credit this Cris' program with understanding how my son thinks and works and setting up a study plan that catered to his strengths.

My daughter had to write a pre-algebra test in a few days and I was concerned she was struggling. I contacted SoFlo online, expressed my concern and in spite of the tight schedule they moved things around to accommodate my daughter. I witnessed the session and it’s the best thing since sliced bread. I love the teaching method, and that my daughter was offered multiple methods to solve the same problem. I recommend SoFlo highly!

We decided to do homeschool this year because of covid, but I'm not a science/engineering person at all. So I hired UA Tutoring to help do some STEM with my son once a week, and it has been a delight working with these guys. Nathaniel was always prompt and consistent. He always had super cool experiments and projects to do with my son, and he was able to explain it in a way that my son understood. Really great experience.

I like Ryan because he is relatable. He is a good teacher but switches things up because he is still a young adult. I think he’s able to teach me because he’s still in touch with modern games and music. I find it fun even to learn from because it’s nice to be able to relate to a teaching figure. --- Kieran

Both my children agree that their coach is not only capable, but also highly skilled and very easy to be around. She has a strong mastery of ACT / SAT test preparation techniques, and my kids enjoy going to Learning Foundations each week!
