Teaches competition Math (AMC 8 / MathCounts) + School Math Tutor (specializes in Algebra), English, Korean, Flute, and Biology | Friendly, Clear Step-by-Step and Engaging Teaching | Improve Grades & Problem Solving + Test Strategies, as well as increase confidence in their abilities.
I found myself struggling a lot in math, and I didn't really have a teacher who I could reach out to and be comfortable asking questions with until the latter end of middle school, where my teacher was the first person I felt fully at ease. After making that connection, my education journey became so much easier and smoother, and helped me finally gain the scores I needed to get achievements in competitions and do better than I had in the past. Once I finally understood these concepts, my experience in math became so much easier and much more fun, and I strive to be that person for my students, and a tutor who helps hard concepts finally click, and to also have fun solving equations and having understanding in concepts.
I took the math skip test in 2 different districts, as well as taken many math competitions, from AMC 8 to Mathcounts, received a score of 117/100 in Algebra 1 finals and 2nd place in my grade, and was a ranker in Mathcounts State. Due to that, I am familiar with frequently appearing questions and methods to best prepare for them for competition and exam situations.
I have a few years of experience with tutoring other students and peers in person for math, biology, and flute, and I find myself really enjoying solving and creating problems, as well as tackling hard questions/concepts and understanding them. I enjoy writing and reading in my spare time and have gotten high marks in English and taken high level courses for Literature and English.
My teaching methods are first understanding what the student has already learned and understood, and then identifying what they are struggling with or want/need to learn. Once that has been identified, I go ahead and pull up necessary information and/or questions for the students so we can go over necessary concept and problems to ensure understanding.
Something that I believe is a core essential part of learning is not being afraid and encouraging a learning space, so I try my best to make sure the student is not overwhelmed and encourage questions and making sure they fully understand before moving on, as well as taking feedback so I can fully cater to their learning.
These lessons are for students anywhere from elementary students who want to learn ahead, people preparing for math olympiad in elementary, middle schoolers beginning their algebra journey to logics in geometry, math competitors who want to improve their scores in the AMC 8 and Mathcounts, students from elementary to logic who need extra assistance understanding material for their success, diving deeper into Biology to fully understand concepts, speakers who want to learn Korean, improve their English writing, and begin their flute music journeys.
I hope my tutoring can help people gain more confidence and results they deserve after their efforts.
