About

My undergraduate career cultivated my love of words. In one way or another, words have made me who I am today: an educator, a poet, an artist, and a creative writer. Since graduating from Arizona State University, I have pursued my passion through the lens of creative writing and teaching.

As of September of 2021, I have successfully published two books of poetry and will be premiering my first linked collection of young adult fantasy stories in December. Given this, I consider myself to be the perfect tutor for all your writing needs as you traverse the magical, messy process of creative writing.

Moreover, I believe words create a home within us and they're important as they open up spaces for us as human beings to wrestle with the world around us. As an educator, I constantly reflect on the intrinsic power of words and how I can hold space for you as you contemplate these meaning-based questions on the page.

My education has provided me with the interdisciplinary background, which I consider to be crucial for all teachers and fellow creatives. I am cognizant of gender theory, feminism, literature, hermeneutics, and the importance of communication and holding/creating space for my students. Along with this, I have ample experience in mediating an online classroom environment through the Zoom Platform.

Perhaps, above all else, I would like to leave you with this final note: I believe your words pressed to the page are powerful and they're incredibly important. I promise to meet you as you cultivate them and listen closer to their meaning as you string all your words together. I'm grateful for this opportunity to work with you and your words.

Let's make them shine on the page, okay?

Frequently asked questions

Typically, I take a few moments to introduce myself and provide the student with more information about my expertise and background. Then, I ask the students some questions about what their goals are for our time together, meaning what are they working on and what they want to get out of our time together. Following this, we make a plan to address their goals for their project and then we begin working on meeting those goals.

I have a bachelor's in communication and a long history of working with students on their papers and academic projects. At Arizona State University, I served in the role of Writing Tutor. Every day, I had the wonderful opportunity of working with students across different academic disciplines. I believe my expertise unfolded from this prime experience. Along with this, I have experience working with students across all age levels. At the Institute of Reading Development, I served as a Reading Teacher, spearheading classes and discussions for students to encourage reading absorption and comprehension as well. Lastly, I have been working for the last two years in an online environment and am familiar with navigating teaching online, including what practices/techniques work best in this environment.

My standard pricing system is $25/per hour for online tutoring.

I started teaching at Arizona State University. First, I worked as a Writing Tutor in the Writing Center at that time. Later on, I had the opportunity of being a Teacher's Assistant to one of my former professors. There, I learned how to prepare study sessions and assist students within the classroom.

I have worked with students across all age levels who have wanted to improve their reading comprehension and writing skills. I have also had the privilege of being able to work with students in high school and college, too. I believe these experiences have significantly expanded my knowledge of teaching practices, which benefit students at every age level.

I was excited to discover one of my students was no longer at risk in her reading comprehension skills when she was tested in class. It made me realize just how much of an impact I have on my students when I work with them.

I would advise students to be mindful of what goals they have for their time together with their tutor. Additionally, I would ask students to be cognizant of the time they have available and in what ways will they show up to each tutoring session ready to learn and grow.

Students should think through what their needs are first and foremost. What resources do you have available to you? How do you learn best? Are you a visual learner? What are your strengths and areas in need of improvement in your requested subject? What assignments are you working on and what feedback has been given to you in the past?
