Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Ask their name and find out what hobbies they have. Find out what math class they are taking and what they would like help with.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Master's in Teaching with Endorsement in Math and Highly capable education, 12 years classroom teaching experience. SAT tutoring experience.
How did you get started teaching?
I started helping others in math as far back as I can remember, so probably in 3rd grade, if not before. I always thought my math teacher skipped too many steps for the other kids to understand. One of the tricky parts about math is the same thing can be written many different ways. Like we say money, bucks, dollars, moolah. Mathematicians could write a value of 1 a couple of different ways or completely leave it out if its a coefficient of x. Zero, 1 and sometimes 2 can be invisible numbers, did you know?
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with 2nd grade up through adults in college.
