Maggie’s Tutoring Services
About
I believe my services stand out because I was recently a student myself and know the struggles of keeping up with a large workload and balancing multiple classes. I graduated with a degree in biology and chemistry, so math and science are strenghts of mine, as well as how to navigate virtual school. The kids that I currently tutor are going through virtual school and they have excelled so far this year. It is very rewarding to see that they are thriving during these challenging times with the help of my daily support. Since this is just a part time job, I have ample time to add more (virtual) students to my schedule and help support them as well!
I have always enjoyed school, especially math and science, and I love helping students learn and accomplish whatever their academic goals are. I look forward to working with my students each week and seeing the progress they are able to make with good, consistent, hard work.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I like to start by learning the student's current strengths and weaknesses, what they hope to work on during tutoring sessions, and their learning style.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I graduated with a bachelor's degree in both biology and chemistry. I recently took the MCAT so I have kept up with upper level science material and I currently tutor younger kids who range in ages from 7 - 12. This combined has allowed me to stay current in how I can best help students whether that is basic elementary math and grammar all the way up to complex science courses (physics, chemistry, biology).
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
The amount charged depends on the needs of the student and how many hours per week I am needed on a regular basis.
How did you get started teaching?
I started tutoring when I volunteered for my chemistry club in college. I found it very rewarding to teach a subject I was so fond of and have been doing it in various subjects ever since!
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with students from the second grade through college level, as well as students with ADHD.

What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
I would advise a student to look for a teacher who, despite how smart, explains things in a way that is clear and makes complete sense to you.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
What specific areas they would like to improve, for example, do they need help with study techniques, help on homework, or general help with keeping on track and not missing assignments?
