In addition to my extensive education in mathematics, I have a background in nannying, so I can communicate with kids very well.
As a college student studying Applied Mathematics, I find tutoring incredibly rewarding because in addition to helping the students I work with, this job helps me keep all levels of math fresh in my mind.
Rachel is an incredible tutor. She’s very patient, understanding, and calm. She helps you slowly work out everything you’re confused on, and always makes sure you feel confident before you move on. She explains concepts in a way that is easy to grasp, and never makes you feel stupid. As a result of her tutoring, my grades in math have consistently stayed A’s, and I have been able to understand crucial algebraic concepts that have helped me as I have moved forward in math.
I begin with introductions, which includes getting to know the student's strengths and weaknesses. Once I know what area of math the student needs help with, I will do my own personal study of the subject and break it down slowly for the student. I will work through homework assignments, guiding the student, but not spoon feeding them answers.
I am a sophomore in BYU's Applied Mathematics program. I have done one-on-one tutoring for four years, and have yielded fantastic results.
