Tirzah's Math Tutoring
About
In my high school years, I struggled with math, quickly losing the passion that I had previously had for the subject. But when I took Algebra 2, a wonderful tutor came alongside me and helped to bring understanding and joy back into math. Because of the struggles that I went through in my study of mathematics throughout high school, I desire to assist other students in their studies so that they too can discover their capabilities and uncover the true joy and wonder of mathematics. As a tutor, I desire to open students’ minds to the fact that the process of learning mathematics is about far more than numbers and solving equations. The study of mathematics develops logic, problem-solving skills, patience, and perseverance—all of which can be applied to every aspect of life. Armed with these skills and character qualities, students will be prepared to succeed in whatever path they decide to pursue in life. I desire to inspire students in their study of mathematics as they gain not only mathematical knowledge, but also the qualities and skills they will need to succeed in life.

Frequently asked questions
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am currently studying to earn my BS in Mathematics, planning to graduate in spring of 2020. I have taken classes such as Linear Algebra, Calculus I, II, and III, and abstract math, to name a few. I have worked with students at varying levels of education ranging from preschool through pre-calculus.
How did you get started teaching?
I loved math all throughout my growing up years until I hit high school. Geometry quickly destroyed my passion for the subject. As I struggled to understand the concepts involved in Geometry, a friend suggested I put the subject on hold and study Algebra 2 under her tutoring. Because of her skill and patience as a tutor, my love of math revived. Through the aid of my own tutor in bringing joy back into math for me, I discovered that I, too, want to make such a difference in future students’ lives. Knowing the struggles that I went through in my study of mathematics throughout high school, I desire to assist other students in their studies so that they too can discover their capabilities and uncover the true joy and wonder of mathematics.
