That Tutoring Place

We provide personalized tutoring year-round for all ages in all subjects, as well as SAT/ACT test prep and homework help.

Our business is unique in that we focus on student's homework and provide them with the strategies and skills they need to be successful in their classes. Our focus is on mastery of concepts provided through access to one-on-one assistance. Development of rapport with each of our students gives them confidence that they can flourish in both academic and personal endeavors.

The most gratifying aspect of our work is when our students experience the "light bulb moment," when student's successes resulting from our time together.

We're not a franchise. We’re a family-owned and operated business focusing on the educational well-being of the children in our local community since 2013.

That Tutoring Place was founded by a Washington State teacher who saw the glaring need for a supplemental education program. She set out to create a personalized, one-on-one tutoring service with three goals in mind: Listen, Teach, and Encourage.

Our individual tutoring programs are designed with learning strategies specific to the student’s needs. We also create a partnership with the child’s parents and teachers to form a circle of support and accountability.

And every program includes homework assistance and study skills, which are essential to overcoming learning challenges.

As teachers ourselves, we truly care about your child’s education and promise to do all we can to ensure their success.

    Frequently asked questions

When meeting with a new student for the first time, we first discuss their concerns about their classes and their plan going forward.  We then ask them to share examples of their current work to diagnose areas of concern to determine the next actionable steps for the student to be successful. We then recommend the frequency of sessions they will need to attend to achieve their desired outcome.

Our tutors are highly trained in their areas of expertise, and several are certificated teachers who have taught in the public school system.

All programs include study skills and homework assistance.

Teaching is in my genes. My mom is a former 4th-grade teacher at both public and private schools. Her mother, aunt, and many cousins were also teachers, plus one of my sisters became a high school history teacher. During my last teaching position, I found myself working with students more one-on-one. I witnessed how much confidence and success they experienced by having a person just sit with them and tell them they are doing everything correctly. So, I began private tutoring. I drove everywhere and worked with students of all ages and all subjects. I used the time to develop my unique method of teaching SAT skills. In January 2013, a colleague asked if I wanted to take over a tutoring business that had closed. The rest is history.
All ages, and for all subjects.
