About
Hi, my name is Ben Rees, and I am a mechanical engineering graduate student at the University of Vermont. As an undergraduate student, I studied mechanical engineering and minored in mathematics. Throughout my studies, tutoring/mentoring younger students has been a continued passion of mine. As a sophomore, I tutored for 1 year in Calc I-III. Then, as a junior and senior, I became a Supplemental Instruction Leader in Intro and Applied Thermodynamics, where I provided group and personalized instruction to other mechanical engineering students. My personal approach is centered around solving practice problems of increasing difficulty, which I believe to be the most fundamental path to complete understanding. What I love most about tutoring is fostering excitement for the subject matter and for learning as a whole, which I believe is the most important part of any student's academic experience.
