About
As an engineering student myself, I can personally relate to the struggles most students face. My extended math background from taking college level courses such as calculus has allowed me to gain an expertise in the subject and strengthened my knowledge of foundational courses. I've tutored students of all ages from grades K-12 and understand that sometimes kids can feel lost, and they need someone to work hand-in-hand with to provide a new perspective and assist them in undersranding the concepts.
Nothing is better than the joy from a student after they've been struggling trying to grasp a concept, but with my help they were able to gain a better understanding, and all of the pieces of the puzzle suddenly fit for them. When the students look forward to the tutoring sessions, this allows them to truly develop a passion for learning, and is a huge step towards their academic excellence.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
A common first step among tutors is to identify the student's strengths and weaknesses to better assess ther knowledge, and apply more time towards the areas they struggle with. But what's even more important to me is to find what motivates the student, and make a connection between their learning process in the subjects the excel at, and apply that to our sessions. My goal is to ensure students understand the topics both analytically and pratically, and this can be done by incorporating real-world examples and taking a hands-on approach.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Throughout my experience as a tutor, I have contributed over 60+ voluntary hours towards tutoring for a specific class, or prepping students for standardized tests such as the SAT for college admissions. However, my most memorable experience has been through working with the Roanoke Rescue Mission to assist underpriveledged students in the Roanoke Valley with homework help after school, along serving as a role model to point them in the right direction in life. Many of those students which I deal with initially have no passion for learning when I first meet them, but nothing is more valuable than the moments after out sessions when the kids desire for me to stay longer, because I always try to be engaging while also teaching them.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
As a parent, you need to think of what is the best way to invest in your child's education so they can get the support they need to truly excel in their classwork. My rate as a qualified tutor is $40/hour plus $20 per additional child and this is for in-person 1-on-1 tutoring which has proven to be the most successful method to cater towards a student's personalized needs. Please keep in mind, this also includes the preparation time to create materials for the students, and I will personally correspond with their school teachers and classes to provide the most value for our lessons.
